Mera & Island Peak 28 days climbing Itinerary


  • Day 01 Arrival in Kathmandu 1,350m:

    You will arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport and welcomed by one of our team representatives. He/she will accompany you to your hotel. You will rest for the day, and later in the evening, you will meet with your guide and other crew members. You will end your day with traditional welcome dinner along with cultural dance. Overnight in a hotel.

  • Day 02 Prepare equipment for the peak and free day:

    Today, the whole day is dedicated to the preparation of the upcoming trek. You will begin your day with a warm breakfast, and later, meet with your guide. He will brief you about your trip. You will arrange all the gear with your guide and also do shopping if needed. Rest of the day is free for you to relax and eat mouth watering delicacies. Overnight in a hotel.

  • Day 03 Kathmandu - Phaplu 2,415m, by flight 30 minute:

    After having breakfast, you will move to the airport to take your flight to Phaplu. The flight will be short and scenic. You will get to see fantastic views of hills and snow-capped mountains from the flight. Upon reaching Phaplu, you will have lunch and go on a short hike around Pahplu. Overnight in a lodge. 

  • Day 04 Phaplu to Taksindu drive by jeep 1 hour 2,930m visit a monastery and after lunch trek to Nunthala 2,217m, 2-3 hour:

    You will drive to Taksindu after having breakfast. The drive will go through the outskirts of Nepal. Upon reaching Taksindu, you will visit an ancient beautiful monastery. You will take a small break here and have lunch. Further, you will trek downhill to Nunthala through forested trial. Overnight in a lodge. 

  • Day 05 Nunthala to Panggoma 2,850m, 7-8 hour:

    Today is going to a long and exhausting trekking day. You will trek through several small settlements, streams, and dense forests. Throughout the trail, you will get to see superb landscape and scenic views. Overnight in a lodge.

  • Day 06 Panggom to Ningsow 2,863m, 5-6 hour:

    You will wake up early in the morning and begin trekking towards Ningsow. You will ascend to Panggom La Pass from where you will get to witness a spectacular view of the region. Further, you will descend down to Penseng Kharka Khola and cross it over a suspension bridge. From here, the trail will take you to Ningsow village crossing the Ningsow Khola. Overnight in a lodge.

  • Day 07 Ningsow to Chhatra Khola 2,800m, 7-8 hour:

    You will begin ascending and reach Ramailo Danda from where you will get to see the beautiful view of Mera Peak (6,476 m). Before reaching the Ramailo Danda, you will descend from Ningsow village and ascend through Makalu Barun National Park. Further, following the Pasang Lhamu trail, you will reach Chhatra Khola where you will stop for the night. Overnight in a lodge.

  • Day 08 Chhatra Khola to Kothe 3,691m, 6-7 hour:

    After having breakfast, you will begin trekking towards Kothe. The trail goes straight towards Tashing Ongma. You will find many tea shops at this place. From here, you will continue trekking until you reach Kothe. Again, the trail will present gorgeous sceneries and also go through forested sections. Overnight in a lodge.

  • Day 09 Kote to Thagnang 4,356m, 5-6 hour:

    You will trek along the ridge of Hinku. On the way, you will get to see stunning views of Mera Peak, Kusum Kanguru, Kyashar, and cold untamed river streams. You will ascend up to a valley, and further, trek along a river bank on a rocky trail. You will then ascend and reach a pasture. From here, you will pass through Gondia Hung where you can visit an ancient monastery. The trail from here will take you to Thagnang where you will stop for the night. Overnight in a lodge.

  • Day 10 Acclimatization at Thagnang:

    Today is your rest day at Thagnang to acclimatized your body with the increased altitude. You will spend the day exploring the village and ut's nearby areas. You can also visit locals house or can interact with them to know their lifestyle, culture, and tradition more closely. Overnight in a lodge.

  • Day 11 Thagnang to Khare 5,045m, 4-5 hour:

    Leaving Thagnang behind, you will begin trekking towards Khare. You will ascend slowly soaking the beauty of the region. After ascending for around two and half hour through adventurous lateral moraine of Dig Glacier to Dig Kharka, you will get to witness striking views of the mountain landscape. Further, you will ascend on a steep path through moraine to the snout of the Hinku Nup and Shar Glaciers. From here, you will cross a stream and again ascend to reach Khare. Overnight in a lodge.

  • Day 12 Khare to Base Camp 5,350m, 4-5 hour:

    You will begin ascending over a boulder-strewn path up to the glacier that will lead you up to Mera La. Upon reaching the snout of the glacier, you will gear up yourself with harness, mountaineering boots, crampons, and ice-ax for the further climb. You will reach Mera La from where you will get to see fantastic views of the surrounding. Further, you will trek to the Base Camp where you will stay for the night. Overnight in a camp.

  • Day 13 Base Camp to High Camp 5,780m, 5-6 hour:

    You will ascend on a steep rocky trail that will lead you to High Camp. On the way, you will get to see superb views of the surrounding, however, you are basically surrounded by thick snow. You will also cross several difficult crevasses before reaching High Camp. After reaching the High Camp, you will get to see panoramic views of Mt. Everest 8,848 m, Mt. Nuptse 7,861 m, Mt. Lhotse 8,516 m, and Mt. Makalu 8,481 m. You will also get pre-climbing training from your guide. Overnight in a camp.

  • Day 14 Go to Mera center summit 6,461 m, and trek to Kongma Dingma 9-10 hour:

    Today is going to be a long tiring yet adventurous day. You will wake up early in the morning and begin trekking towards the summit of Mera Peak. The ascend is non-technical but take you to the high elevation where you have to face thin air. You will see peaks in the amazing red glow when rays of sun hit their surface. Depending upon the situation of the route you have use rope to ascend to the final point of the summit. You will get to witness outstanding views of Mt. Makalu 8,481m, Mt. Baruntse 7,129 m, and Mt. Naulekh 6,363 m. After spending some time up here, you will descend down to Kongma Dingma. Overnight in a camp.

  • Day 15 Kongma Dingma rest day:

    Today is your another rest day. You will spend the resting and tasting the local food with locals. You will get a chance to experience the lifestyle of people residing here. You already have trekked for long hours so it is advised to rest the whole day and gain your energy back for coming treks. Yet, if you want, you can explore the village and its nearby areas. Overnight in a camp.

  • Day 16 Kongma dingma to Seto Pokhari Camp 5,035m, 5-6 hour:

    You will trek through a remote valley of the upper yak pasture. Throughout the trail, you will get to see glorious views of Himalayan sceneries and valley. The trail, which you are trekking on will take you to straight two of the world's tallest mountains Everest and Lhotse. Overnight in a camp.

  • Day 17 Seto Pokhari to Amphu Laptsa Base Camp 5,650m, 5-6 hour:

    Leaving Seto Pokhari behind, you will begin trekking through isolated parts of the Himalayan region, that means there are high chances you will not find any other trekkers or human settlements throughout the trail. You will trek on the off-the-beaten trail and ascend steeply to reach the first lake of upper Honku Basin. On the right side, you will get to see Mt. Chamlang 7,319 m with its hanging glaciers. You will reach Amphu Laptsa Base Camp where you will stop for the night. Overnight in a camp.

  • Day 18 Amphu Laptsa Base Camp to Island Peak Base Camp 5,080m:

    Today is going to be relatively easy and short trekking day for you. You will ascend towards the Island Peak Base Camp. The trail will present spectacular views of high snow-capped mountains and mountain landscape. You will ascend along the glacial moraine of Imja Tsho glacial lake and reach Island Peak Base Camp. Overnight in camp.

  • Day 19 Reserve day:

    Today is a reserve day in case due to bad weather you couldn't walk further. You can spend the day resting and exploring the nearby areas. Overnight in a camp. 

  • Day 20 Island Peak Base Camp 5,087m to High Camp 5,600m, 3-4 hour:

    After having breakfast, you will begin ascending towards the High Camp. The trail will be little difficult as most parts of the path include a rugged and glacial walk. You will get to see awesome views of snow-capped mountains all around you throughout your trek. Upon reaching High Camp, you will set the camp for the night stay. Overnight in a camp. 

  • Day 21 High camp - Summit 6,189m and back to Chhukung 5,550m, 7-8 hour:

    Today is another exciting and thrilling day for you because you are going to summit another peak, Island Peak. You will wake again super early in the morning and have a light breakfast. After that, you will begin gradually ascending towards the summit. You will ascend with the help of fix rope that your guide will set for you. The first part of the trail will go through a rocky gorge that will further lead you to glacier pass. Upon reaching the summit, you will get to witness panoramic views of surrounding mountains. After spending some time up at the top, you will trek back to Chhukung village for the night stay. Overnight in a lodge. 

  • Day 22 Chhukung to Tengboche 3,870m, 6-7 hour:

    After having breakfast, you will begin descending down to Tengboche. You will go through small villages like Dingboche, streams, and rhododendron forest before reaching Tengboche. Tengboche holds the oldest and the biggest monastery of the Khumbu Region, Tengboche monastery. You will get to see ancient sculpture, manuscripts, and other ancient holy stuff inside the monastery. This place also presents superb views of snow-capped Himalayan mountains. Overnight in a lodge. 

  • Day 23 Tengboche to Namche 3,440m, 6-7 hour:

    You will descend on a steep trail to reach a river. You will then cross the river on a bridge and further, trek through a lush forest of rhododendron and birch. On the way, you will get to see captivating views of Mt. Nuptse 7,861 m, Mt. Lhotse 8,516 m, Mt. Ama Dablam 6,812 m, Mt. Kwangde 6,011 m, Mt. Taboche 6,542 m, Mt. Kantega 6,782 m, Mt. Thamserku 6,623 m, and many other mountains. Overnight in a lodge.

  • Day 24 Namche to Phakding 2,610m, 7-8 hour:

    After having breakfast, you will trek back on the same route as you have come before. You will descend down through rivers, streams, and forests. Crossing several suspension bridges, you will reach the bank of Dudh Koshi River where Phakding village is located. You will spend today's night here in Phakding village. Overnight in a lodge.

  • Day 25 Phakding to Lukla (2,860m, 6-7 hours).

    After having breakfast, you will trek back on a scenic trek to Lukla. The trail descends and ascends gradually, passing through Sherpa villages and crossing suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River. Enjoy the breathtaking landscape as you approach Lukla,  

  • Day 26 Lukla to Kathmandu by flight (35 minutes ).
    Experience the thrill of a scenic flight from Lukla to Kathmandu, providing stunning views of the Himalayas. The short journey ends with a smooth landing at Kathmandu Airport, where our staff will assist you to your hotel.
  • Day 27 Sightseeing: Boudhanath, Pashupatinath, Kathmandu Durbar Square:
    After having breakfast, you will begin your sightseeing. You will visit the sacred and one of the holiest temples of Hindus, Pashupatinath Temple. Further, you will visit Boudhanath Stupa, the largest stupa in Nepal where the divine aroma of joss sticks and Buddhist mantra in every corner will set your soul at composure. 
  • Day 28 Transfer to Airport for departure:

    Our team member will accompany you to the Airport according to your flight schedule.
