  • Day 02 Drive to Syabrubesi, 1462m
The 119 km drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi takes about 8-9 hrs by bus or jeep depending on group size and the construction status of the road. The road to Syabrubesi heads north from Kathmandu along the Trisuli River, via Dhunche. You will enjoy views of Ganesh Himal, terraces, green hills and many villages. After Dhunche, the valley becomes more narrow and deep.
  • Day 03 Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel, 2500m

Today, the trail crosses over the Bhote Koshi and follows the south side of the Langtang Khola (stream), which we will follow for the next few days. You are immediately immersed in the natural wonders of the Langtang National Park. You will likely see monkeys playing alongside the trail, and if you are lucky, red pandas and bears. The climb to Bamboo, 1960m is mostly gentle with a few steep ascents. The trail crosses a suspension bridge to the north side of the river. The climb to Rimche, 2400m, is steeper and the vegetation becomes sparse. From here it is a gentle ascent to Lama Hotel, which is not a hotel, but a small settlement.

  • Day 04 Lama Hotel to New Langtang Village, 3430m

The trail starts with a gentle climb through a forest of hemlock, oak and rhododendron. The trek route follows Gumanechok, Ghoda Tabela, 3008m, which means, “Horse Stable”, but there is an army checkpoint here. From here the valley widens and we get beautiful views of Langtang Lirung as well as the devastation wreaked by landslide when a huge chunk of the mountain loosened and buried the old Langtang Village in the 2015 earthquake. After passing by the memorials we reach the “New” Langtang village and settle into one of the lodges and listen to stories of survival, courage and resilience.

  • Day 05 Trek to Kyanjin Gompa, 3798 m

Today is a shorter walk which is good for acclimatization and affording time to enjoy the magnificent views of the mountains; Langtang Lirung with its dramatic icefall flowing down and Langtang Kinshung,6781m, to the north. We pass through yak pastures. Kyanjin Gompa is place with lots to explore and lots of small peaks to climb. There is time to stop and taste the cheese at a cheese factory and visit the monastery at the top of the hill.

  • Day 06 Kyanjin Gompa exploration day

Today is a day to rest and explore the area. It’s a 2-hour climb to Kyanjin Ri, 4500m, from where there is a great view of the mountain range in the west, including Langshisha Ri, 6370m, Gang Chhenpo, 6388m, and Dorje Lakpa, 6966m.

  • Day 07 Trek back to Lama Hotel, 2500m
